Columbine

Aquilegia Canadensis

Spread: 12 - 24"
Blooms: May, June
Inner yellow flower is surrounded by red flower

Growing: Soil should be fertile, moist and well drained. Columbines adapt well to most soil conditions. These plants self-seed, and young seedlings can be transplanted. Division is not required but can be done to propagate desirable plants. They may take a while to recover as they dislike having their roots disturbed.

Sow seeds on May 1st in 1/2 inch of soil.
Attracts Hummingbirds
Native Americans were said to have crushed the seeds on the hands of the men as a love charm.
