Getting Started
Tie your line directly to the barrel swivel attached to the lure. DO NOT USE SNAP SWIVELS OR OTHER CONNECTORS AS THEY MAY AFFECT LURE BALANCE.
We recommend 17 to 20 pound test monofilament line and a medium-to-heavy action rod. This will allow full activation of the lure at any casting distance. Braided and fused superlines are also very effective.
Heavy lines, such as fluorocarbon-based lines, are not recommended because they will sink quickly, pulling the lure downward during activation.
We also recommend medium to heavy bait casting equipment. Light tackle may be used, but it may not fully activate the lures since light tackle tends to bend instead of delivering the full force of the rod action to the lure.
Activation
After the lure is secure, just cast your MotoLure™ toward stick-ups or other
cover where fish wait to ambush their prey. After entering the water, the
lure will immediately begin its lifelike struggling action.
After 10-15 seconds, hold the rod tip low and begin the retrieve with a simple
popping or chugging motion, just as you would a standard popper
or chugger. This will reactivate the lure for an additional 10-15 seconds.
Repeat for continuous live bait action!
Advanced Use
When you need the lure to remain in the strike zone for extended periods
of time, use the Moto Minnow™. Open pockets of weeds, lily pads,
and stick-ups are the perfect areas for the Moto Minnow™ and
extended time in the strike zone.
To increase the flutter speed of the Moto Minnow’s™ tail fin, bend the
rear 1/3 of the tail fin upwards. The more the tail is bent upwards,
the faster the action. To slow the tail fin speed, straighten the tail
fin. The result will be what appears to be an injured minnow. This drives
big fish crazy!
The Moto Chug™ is a faster paced lure and can cover more water. It’s more
effective in open water areas, but don’t forget to slow it down near logs
and other cover. To minimize the chance of spooking fish, “double popping”
of the rod tip results in less water disturbance while still producing a
fully charged motor and full lifelike struggling action.
